Plot

This drama is about a family that lives on the outskirts of Seoul. Byun Han Soo is the father and his wife, Na Yeong Shil, a dedicated, responsible mother to their three daughters and one son. One day, Ahn Joong Hee, an actor who used to be a member of an idol group shows up at the household and declares that he is the son of the family and that he will be moving in with them. Needless to say, this doesn't go down well with the family and drama and chaos ensues and many secrets are revealed.

My Feelings

This drama was such a sweetheart, there is no better word to describe it with. If you're used to K drama's you would not be surprised about how they managed to make all the characters somehow connected to each other, but putting that aside, I absolutely enjoyed this drama. It lost half a star because it really did not have to be 52 episodes, however as you're watching, it doesn't feel so long because every episode was super interesting. The script writer(s) need a standing ovation as they properly wrote every character in this drama, they did not get lazy with the smaller characters. Everyone had their own personality and something going on, but not in a way that there was too much going on. Personally I loved Hye Young on her own and Hye young and Jeong Hwan together, he really knew his woman and how to make a relationship with her work. Hye Young has such a strong personality that on anyone one else may be too much but it is very clear to see she has such a good heart underneath it all and had to be tough to protect that heart. She was never cruel, just very blunt and straightforward, and don't we all need that from our friends and family? My least favorite would have to be Jeung Hwan's mother, my goodness was she ever frustrating! I mean she was completely unreasonable and beyond rude! I can't imagine her being a mother in law to anyone but Hye Young, the poor person. In regards to the many surprises we find out about along the way, I do not think the main one was far fetched, you can completely understand why Yoon Seuk made the decisions he did, so although he technically was not innocent, you would find it difficult to find fault with his actions, considering the price he paid for it. That being said, omg poor Joong Hee, the pain he must have gone through is unimaginable, and not just the pain but the internal struggles, whew, he's one tough cookie to have let it all go, however I am glad they showed a part of that struggle because if they made it seem like it was an easy thing to get over, a lot of the authenticity of this drama would have been lost. The family dynamics of the Byun house hold give us family goals, they bicker, yell and hit each other like siblings do in real life and they annoy their parents, the fact that it is so realistic is part of the charm of this drama, you can almost picture yourself in the family. Their love for each other is so beautiful to see.

Conclusion

Please watch this drama, it is a delight from start to finish, you can't wait to get to the end but you almost feel bad as you do because you do not want the show to end. It was beautifully written and beautifully acted, everyone was perfect for their roles and although not all likeable, they are all "relate-able" (maybe except Hye Young's mother in law, although you can ALMOST sympathize with her because of her husband). Yes, it's 52 episodes long but so worth it!

P.S, before I forget, the way Ra Young dealt with Cheol Soo's father was so much fun to watch!
